Horror magazine covers inspirational ideas

This magazine cover uses a quote from the film. This is a good aspect of the magazine which I am interested in using for our own magazine cover. It makes the magazine look knowledgeable as contains factual information, and therefore a trusted source of information about this upcoming film. Similarly the focus of the magazine is on Robert Downey Jr, the lead character in the movie. He is centered and put in the foreground of a washed out, misty background. This has been done to catch the attention of Sherlock fans, but also fans of Robert Downey Jr himself. By having a famous actor on the front cover, this entices readers in, as they will identify that this is a well-established magazine. The image is covering the masthead, this suggests that this magazine is so well-known and easily identifiable that they don't have to have the whole title showing. The colour scheme is simplistic and only uses three colours for the text. White blue and black all compliment each other, but also stand out from the washed out background.  This makes the magazine look sophisticated and clear that they know what looks good. "World exclusive" makes this magazine seem more important to read than any other, as they have better, more current information than the rest.

This 'Empire' magazine cover, the movie that this magazine is promoting is centered and the whole edition is focusing on 'Captain America'. The use of colour is simplistic and all work well together. The main image is covering some of the masthead suggesting that this magazine is well established and can be recognized.
